About the Author and why Mastering the Culture is important
About the Author and why he wrote Master the Culture
Unfortunately, I was a high school drop out and believed that being "black" school wasn't for me. And my peer group reinforced that belief as well. I Ioved hanging in the streets and was looking for an easy way to make money and to impress the girl's. Unknowingly, the American culture was creating my motivations and attitude on what I shouldn't be and what I couldn't achieve as well. I unfortunately became a victim of this mind set. Consequently, some groups in America master the culture, because of their cultural awareness of who they think they are. Then from this understanding go on to conquer the world. However, rap music became my love and that's the road I was determined to take without considering anything else. However being a rapper wasn't easy and not as fun as I thought it would be. Therefore, I was lucky, I met some good people and was sent on a righteous path. I got my GED and persued a college education. I earned my Associates of Arts (AA) degree at Front Range Community College. I earned my Bachelors of Science Business Administration (BS) degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder. And finally earned my Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Regis University. However, after much self-study, I realized that the American culture is determining our future before we get started in many cases. Where else did I get these belief's from of not wanting to go to school and thinking that to be smart is only for white Americans, where did I get that? I got it from our culture that's what I realized after much self-study. Hopefully, with the writing of this book Master the Culture you too will gain insight about the American culture and the meanings it projects to various ethnic groups and with this knowledge help eliminate the self hate and inferiority complex that too many of us have.
"Newly arriving Africans and Africans that are new to America and Latino's can learn immensely from Master the Culture. You will learn from the reading of this book not to get caught up in stereotypical behavior that can be detrimental to yourself and your children. Master the Culture will explain to you how to maneuver your way through the pit falls and conquer the American culture, then on to conquer the world." Jim G. Anderson
Master the Culture is about the development of America and the American culture and how each ethnic group has been affected positively or negatively in our society. So the goal of Master the Culture is for people to become proactive in the way they think as an individual and stop reacting to racism and discrimination. Therefore, master the perception of you the individual and once you transform yourself everyone else transforms around you.
Here is an excerpt from Master the Culture:
With material things, we have this entrenched conviction that happiness is right around the corner, as soon as I get my new video game, when I purchase my new Mercedes Benz, or when I take that Caribbean Cruise everything will be better. But future happiness never evolves from these silly things, because the past is gone forever and the future never seems to get here. So the only thing you have is the present. Therefore, if you’re not doing anything right now that’s constructive and productive, then the future has nothing to offer you.
